Physical Details
The O-Wand is an expensive, luxury wand-style vibrator. The wand itself retails for $199 USD, which isn’t anything to sneeze at. At a price like this, O-Wand is setting the stage for a premium experience, and — true — it comes with many luxury features.
It’s cordless, has a curved, ergonomic shape, and includes a sleek loop handle. Waterproof? Also check, which is amazing for a wand-style vibrator. Similar cordless vibrators like the Magic Wand Rechargeable are NOT waterproof.
The head is distinctly oblong/elongated, giving it an oval look. This means you can use the very tippy tip to get (somewhat) pin-point stimulation, or the sides of the head for broad stimulation. If you’re a die-hard texture fan, you’ll probably enjoy the textured silicone cover that’s included, which has a zillion little nubs to press against you.
Overall, the O-Wand has an elegant, streamlined appearance. About as heavy as the Magic Wand Rechargeable, but a lot more attractive.
How to Use the O-Wand
Before first use, be sure to charge your O-Wand fully using the included wall outlet charging cord. A full charge will take around 1.5 hours (and from that you’ll get up to 3 hours of play).
Once charged and unplugged, press the power button for 3 seconds to turn it on (this acts as a travel lock). Hit the speed button (↑) to cycle through the 4 increasing steady states. Hit the pattern button (~) to cycle through the 7 pattern rhythms.
Apply the head of the wand to your body. While designed for clitoral use, it can of course be used against a penis, nipple, shoulder, etc.
To stop vibrations, tap the power button. You’ll want to press the power button for 3 seconds to fully turn it off.
Packaging – O-Wand review
The O-Wand comes in impressive packaging. The box is black and gold, fancy, and feels luxe.
Inside the box, you receive the O-Wand, a silicone nubby textured cap called the “O-Burst”, a manual, a 1-year warranty card, and a charging cord with several international travel adapter plugs. There is no storage pouch, which is a bummer considering the high cost.
From my not-so-great knowledge of plugs, the box seems to contain two Type A plugs (North American, one with a wider pin and one with two same-size pins), a Type C plug (Europe), and Type G (UK).
Material and Care
The O-Wand is coated in black, silky silicone. This makes it non-porous, non-toxic, and overall pretty darn great in terms of bodysafety. The gold trimming around the handle is metallic plated ABS plastic.
For everyday cleaning, I wash mine in warm, soapy water (unplugged and turned off). You can also add a silicone-safe toy cleaner. Don’t use products containing alcohol, petrol, or acetone.
If you’d like to add lubricant (which I recommend), try a good quality water-based lubricant like my favourite Sliquid H2O.
My Experience with the O-Wand
Most of my curiosity for the O-Wand came from rumors that it’s stronger than the Magic Wand Rechargeable. Now, the Magic Wand Rechargeable (which I reviewed here) is the strongest cordless wand I’ve tried to date (I find the Doxy Die Cast to be stronger, but it’s also corded at all times).
So I was SUPER interested to see how the O-Wand compared to the
Magic Wand Rechargeable, which is one of the most popular cordless wand vibrators on the market.
#1 – The O-Wand isn’t stronger than the Magic Wand Rechargeable. At least not to my knowledge, clitoris, or hands. I did the blind test, and repeatedly found the Magic Wand Rechargeable to be a pinch stronger.
It was a really close call though. The O-Wand has impressive strength, truly, and orgasms came quickly and easily.
#2 – The O-Wand is more rumbly than the Magic Wand Rechargeable. The O-Wand may be a pinch weaker, but it’s also a lot rumblier. Strength isn’t everything when it comes to vibrators — how a motor vibrates is just as important. The O-Wand’s vibrations, to me, seem to penetrate deeper, don’t numb me as quickly, and feel overall better.
#3 – The O-Wand is prettier than the Magic Wand Rechargeable. I mean, no offense MWR, but black, sleek, and curved is just a lot sexier. The Magic Wand Rechargeable is fine looking, although a bit clinical in its white and blue case. I like the look of the O-Wand more, and definitely think it looks more luxurious and gift-worthy.
#4 – The O-Wand is slightly noisier. Not a lot, but enough to notice the difference. The O-Wand also has a slightly higher pitch.
#5 – The O-Wand comes with more stuff than the Magic Wand Rechargeable. A nubby textured headcover, international plugs, and a 1-year warranty card. If you have some extra cash, you can also purchase the O-Wand O-Spot prostate attachment, the O-Wand O-Gasm penis masturbator attachment (which looks really fun), or the O-Wand O-La-La clitoral attachment, which gives you more options for clitoral stimulation.
#6 – The O-Wand is waterproof. This is a big selling point. The Magic Wand Rechargeable is not waterproof. The only other waterproof cordless wand I can think (off the top of my head) is the LELO Smart Wand, but I wasn’t overall a fan of it. This is the best cordless waterproof wand I’ve tried.
O-Wand Review – Overall Thoughts
The O-Wand may be pricey, but it’s also a really darn good wand. Though I personally don’t think it’s stronger than the Magic Wand Rechargeable, I think it’s a better wand overall – it’s waterproof, more rumbly, and so much more attractive.
